FLASHBACK FRIDAY

Last week I went to an enrichment activity where we had various ladies tell us their love story with their husbands, families etc...I being one of the lucky speakers. So, I thought, for family history purposes, I would relay the story of Adam and me - and it still makes me smile when I think about it!

It all started back in 7th grade when his gradeschool and my gradeschool joined to go to the same jr. high - South Bonneville Jr High. I met him through classes and thought he was nice and we became friends, sort of...I remember he used to torment one of my good friends by hooking her locker lock on her coat hooks at the top of her locker (which she was too short to reach). At the end of the year, I went through my yearbook and put little things on everyone's pictures....Adam's pic said "perv" (oh how sweet huh?!?)

In 8th grade is when I started to get a crush on Adam - we had more classes together - I remember sitting right next to him in Mrs. Hansen's science class and thinking he looked a lot like Patrick Swayze - HOT!!

Fast forward a few years to our junior year in high school - we still had a good amount of classes together (Mr. Peterson's history, Mrs. Meacham english) we would sit next to each other and talk, give each other back rubs, hand massages (I know, you're all thinking, "get a room!") so the teachers started to tease us about dating...our first date came about in Mr. Peterson's history class. I bet Adam that I could shoot a paperwad in the wastebasket, and if I did, he would have to take me on a date. I made the basket and we were off on a date the next weekend. We went to Frontier Pies for dinner and then a movie (although I don't remember what the movie was) we began "going out" end of that year and had a great summer together!

We dated all our senior year and then into our college years. Adam went on an LDS mission to Brazil for 2 years and I continued on in my education while writing him the whole time.

We started dating when he got back even though he went to school at BYU and I was still at BSU...we got engaged on July 3, 1998 and married August 14, 1998. So, we are coming up on 11 years of marriage in August. Adam truly is and has been my best friend for the longest time!! I love him and hope "our love story" is far from over!

LET'S MAKE A DEAL!

It always seems that our kids want SOMETHING! We have tried "responsibility charts" to help them earn an allowance, but I don't always follow through and the chart loses its excitement before too long. So, now (and this is probably considered bad parenting) we will either bribe them with money (0.25) or we'll "make a deal". The kids have caught on to this:

The other night, McKenna and I were trying to figure out what part of the morning routine she could do by herself. I had told her that she could wake up by herself and get dressed - then I would help with the rest. Suddenly, her eyes lit up and she said, "I know, let's make a deal. You guys can put a bowl of candy outside your room and, everytime I get up by myself, I can get a treat!" hmmm - NO DEAL -

One morning Harrison had noticed some cookies on the counter (from the night before) and had asked Adam if he could have one for breakfast. Adam said no. Harrison's reply: "Here's the deal...you let me have a cookie for breakfast and I'll give you one of my dollars!" - NO DEAL -

SUGAR COOKIES

Every year around Valentine's Day, Christmas, and Halloween I get the itch to make sugar cookies, so we decided to do just that the other day:

MORNING OF A MULTI-TASKING MOM

It's 9:00a and I have successfully sent one child off to school. Now it's time to get the other two ready for the day. The baby is a mess from breakfast and about ready for his morning nap - so better hurry with the bath. The other child is in the middle of eating breakfast, but is too scared to eat it by himself in the kitchen. So, we compromise..to get it all done at the same time:

COMPLETE DEVOTION

Adam manages a mail and copy center, ShipPro, and I take the kids there quite a bit for various reasons. A lot of the time, while we're there, the kids will see the FedEx, UPS, Post office pick up packages.

So, a few months ago, while we were driving down the road, I heard both kids start cheering and chanting, "ShipPro, ShipPro, ShipPro!!" A second later, I noticed this truck driving by:

Isn't that cute?!? To this day, when they see the UPS truck drive by (which interestingly enough is our competition - the UPS store) they still cheer and chant "ShipPro....!" All because of their complete devotion and love for their daddy..
