CAN YOU GUESS?

I thought it would be fun to play a game called, Can You Guess, I'm going to tell you a couple stories from McKenna and Harrison and you try to guess what their answer was.....o.k.

Don't you just love all the Halloween catalogs you get in the mail every year?!? My kids love to look through them as they try to decide what they're going to be this year. McKenna and Harrison were going through one of the catalogs the other day. Harrison had wanted to be a ninja, wolverine, wolf man, vampire....and just couldn't decide. Then, Kenna piped up and said, "Well, Harrison, if you can't decide on any of those, you could always be.... (can you guess?!?)

...Michael Jackson!" and then pointed to this picture - Oh well, "King of Pop" or "The King"...what's the difference anyways...

I was sitting in the living room, playing with Tyler, when Harrison came walking into the room looking like this:

I asked him what he was wearing... (can you guess what he said?!?)

He told me, "Oh, this is a grandpa exerciser."

Bet you didn't guess that did you!

"QUESTIONABLE" LANGUAGE

MCKENNA

We were at my parents home the other day, and I was talking to my sister (who was having friend problems). She was telling me the situation, and finished her statement with, "I just wanted to tell him to get real and 'grow a pair!'

McKenna had heard this phrase and said, "yeah, you should tell him to get real and grow some hair!"

We all just busted up laughing!! McKenna thought she was so funny and proceeded to run outside and tell my mom, dad, and my grandparents that they should "get real and grow some hair!"

(I guess I 'm just grateful she didn't QUITE understand what my sister had said!!)

HARRISON

Everyday at Harrison's preschool, they learn a new letter, the sound it makes, and then his teacher has a bag of items that start with that letter. Yesterday, the letter of the day was "B". They were getting ready to pull another item out of the bag...(I'll admit his teacher kind of set herself up for this one) and she asked the class, "Who knows what a baby drinks out of?" (This is where I'm glad I have used the bodily terms I have thus far!) So, Harrison promptly yells out, "A MOM'S CHEST!! THE BABY DRINKS FROM THE MOM'S CHEST - AND SOMETIMES IT HURTS REAL BAD!"

Miss Karla had to contain herself and agree with Harrison...and then lead the class back on track to the answer she was looking for - Bottle.

For Easter, Harrison got the Hulk pj's - he thought he was "all that"

End of last school year, Kenna's school had spirit week...this was "bad hair day"

My mom got this cute outfit for Tyler and I love it - especially when he tucks his arms in and walks around like this!

The cousins love to play in the boats at Bear Lake, whether in the water or not. Kenna asked me to take this picture of her - she's much more photogenic than me!

LOST IN TRANSLATION

It seems that, lately, I have been on a "different page" than everybody else in various conversations...


A couple weeks ago, I had a friend call and invite me, along with some other ladies, to go and see a movie (The Time Travelers Wife). Adam and I were out of town. When we got back into town, I asked her if everyone had had a good time and if the movie was good or not...

Michelle: "yeah, we had a good time. But the movie had a lot of bums in it.

Me: "Really?" (thinking homeless people)

Michelle: " yeah, everytime I'd turn around there was another bum!"

Me: "REALLY!?!" (still thinking homeless people..which I've seen maybe a dozen here in my whole life!.. and, at this point, wondering if it had been a FREE screening of the movie)

Michelle: "I was a little disappointed..."

we finished up our conversation, and not until I was halfway down the hall, did I realize she had been talking about NUDITY the whole time!! DUH...

NEXT...

I went to back to school night on Thursday and, once again, was having a conversation with a friend about her kids only being in grade school together...

Me: "Well, maybe you will live in a district with middle school by the time they are older?"

Hilary: "did you grow up with middle school?..

Me: "I didn't, but that district does now."

Hilary: "..because I did. That's one thing I never understood about Idaho. You don't have middle school and you drive so early!"

Me: I actually didn't say anything, but thought to myself, "I was just in New York and there were cars driving around at 2:00 in the morning?!? what in the world is she talking about!"

Hilary: (possibly seeing the confused look on my face) "I didn't learn to drive until I was 16?!?"

oohhh, I get it now! DUH....am I the only one lost here?!?

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL 2009

I cannot believe yet another summer has ended and it is back to school time! Even crazier, is the fact that McKenna is now going to be in "REAL" school as a 1st grader - full day of school, school lunch...etc.

Kenna was pretty nervous her first day of school, so I took her there, found her classroom and then joined her again for lunch - boy how I have missed school lunch for the past 15+ years?!? She is a great girl and I hope she can continue on in the school year with confidence knowing we, as her family, love her so much and only want her to be happy and succeed at all the things she tries!

Harrison started his 2nd year of preschool at Miss Karla's. He was excited to have the same preschool teacher as McKenna did and I think he will love it! Karla does a lot of active work for preschool and Harrison is definitely an active little boy (when we can pull him away from the t.v.) He is very bright and I know he will do great in preschool and great once he starts kindergarten next year! He is so friendly and will say hello to anyone passing by. Adam and I love him so much and can't wait to see him grow and succeed at everything he tries - I hope he knows not to ever give up!
